If you’re reading this blog, I’m assuming you’re pregnant(Congrats!!!) and you’re wondering what to wear for your maternity session. I’ve photographed many maternity sessions and I know it can be overwhelming to choose a dress. Well, I’ve got you covered. These are five options that I’ve seen in person that will fit everyones style and budget. They photograph beautifully, they’re typically more comfortable to wear, and they allow for movement and sitting for prompts. Even if you’re more of a jeans and t-shirt kind of person, I really believe there’s an option out there for everyone. Have a look and then let me know in the comments below which is your favorite!
I love the ethereal look of this dress and the off-the-shoulders sleeves really adds romance to it. It could work in any location but I think it really shines in more woodsy spots. It definitely give off Arwen from Lord of the Rings vibes. There are a ton of color options but i would stick with the white/creams, soft pinks, or wine red.
This dress is a bit more of a sexier option with its open back. Again, I love the flowiness and I think it would work perfect for a beach location where you have space to move around, show off the back of the dress and really have fun with it. It has a ton of earthy color options to choose from. I’m a big fan of the beige, brown, mauve, or canteloupe.
I love this dress if you’re looking for a more formal look. The tulle overlay and flower detailing make it look much pricier than it is. The white option would look stunning in any setting.
This is the dress for all my boho mamas. I love the subtle print and pleating. It can be worn on or off the shoulder and its super comfotable. Bonus: I own it! So while it may not be the most affordable dress on this list, if you schedule your maternity session with me, you have this option available to you!
If you want to splurge on a comfy, well-made dress that you will both feel and look amazing in, definitely consider investing in a bumpsuit. This is a sleek, sexy option which would go incredible for a more dramatic and romantic session. There’s both a long or short option. I love the simplicity of the dress and how it’ll accentuate your growing bump. This look would work in any setting but I would look especially gorgeous at the beach or even in a studio setting.
There you have it! Five dresses to fit any style or budget. If none of these are hitting the spot, just remember to pick something you feel beautiful and comfortable in! Ultimately that is what’s most important and is the little extra magic every session needs.
Now that you have the dress, I would love to be the one to photograph your session! To see more of my recent work, please check out my instagram here or if you want to skip to the good part and book a session now, please contact me here. Look forward to hearing from you.
